   Jillian is the epitome of natural beauty with a unique twist. I don’t know what it is, but before her session I secretly stalked her on facebook, as probably all photographers do, and I instantly feel in love with her look. She’s 14 and the perfect mixture of an innocent yet mature look that looks effortless yet dramatic.
   Jealous!
   We had planned on her bringing an oversized shirt for the studio and a white dress for outside.
The studio look showcased just her. I didn't want anything to take away from her beauty. This is when I fell back in love with simplistic yet dramatic studio portraits. The 2nd look was just something free and light. (Secret- it was SUPER cold the day we shot so we actually photographed the white dress look with her shoes on and sweat pants around her ankles, and in between shots she would pull them back up and put her coat on to warm up. Yes, we got tricks!) 
   As a total wild card Jillian brought an extra look- trendy sunglasses, ripped white washed jeans, and vans. Her long, uncurled hair blew in the wind as we did a little sun worshiper session right in the side yard of the studio.
   Her serious looks were to die for but for the last shot of the day I got one huge, playful, real laugh from her on camera and we called it a day.
   When she and her mom came back for her viewing I found out they would be using the images for her modeling portfolio and I got SO excited. She took her previously portfolio to Chicago and they told her she would have to come back when her look wasn’t so young. Watch out Chicago... Jillian will be back and you will be eating your words. This is bold, beautiful, and her young spirit brings this pure emotion to her edgy, mature portraits.

A Winter Maternity Session

Whimsical, Winter, and Wind.
Who needs snow when you have love,

Beautiful Maternity Session showing the love these two share- check!
Outdoors and incorporate that rustic feel they both are drawn to- check!
Snow- ugh. Darn it, Michigan. Fail.

   February in Michigan and it’s 40 degrees out! Not what we expected, not what we planned for, but we made the best of it and still came away with breathtaking images that held that winter feeling.

   We showed up to our location and it was a mud pit! But I knew the hidden beauty it had to offer so we suffered though it. We drug our gear and props out of my jeep and Bridget helped Careena through the rough terrain. We swapped big comfy boots out for heels at the last minute and then we started shooting.
   The wind only appeared to be a pin in between shots. When it caught Careena’s hair just right, and flung that beautiful dress around, it was totally worth it. The frozen pond mimicked an icy wonderland even without the snow, and the trees far off in the background are almost reminiscent of mountains. Winter was with us, just in a different way.
We changed outfits and headed deeper in to the woods. I totally believe fairytales come to life there, and this example doesn’t prove me wrong.
   I loved watching Bridget take care of Careena. Helping her balance, guiding her to walk in her heals, brushing the hair out of her face, and cuddling up behind her with a grip that showed she was there to make everything easy and ok.
   Careena was a beauty to watch. Her smile was genuine, her eyes told you what words weren’t spoken, and when she had the opportunity to get a few shots of just her alone and the baby bump, and new woman came out. Strong and fierce.

   It’s not every day you get to spy on a gorgeous girl getting ready alone in her bedroom. But, lucky for you, I did and now I’m sharing it with you.
   Oh, if only we all looked this stunning while brushing our hair, right?
   Not to mention, who else looks THIS STUNNING with little gloves on? It’s so unfair!
   LaLa Roux is the perfect blend of modern day fashion and classic pin up beauty. To the tiny vintage shoes to her fun hair, she proves to you beauty has no boundaries. You do what you want. You dress in what makes you feel good. And you mix eras to make you stand out.

getting ready with Jain Darling- a true pin up beauty

I met Jain Darling through Alfie Jean when we did a shoot for The Luscious Ladies. 
No wardrobe was provided, no hair and makeup artist. This girl just nailed everything, herself, head to toe.
Because this is shot in a bedroom it does has that boudoir touch to it, but not by toady's standards. In a day where beauty was about curves, class, and just a touch of sass, Jain Darling is taking us back to that time, and making us jealous we can't stay there and look as good as she does! Oh to look this flawless when you brush your hair! I swear she has a way about her that is so delicate, yet demanding of your attention, and I love it!
