A Great Gatsby Inspired Wedding

    Erica and Cory. They are nothing short of perfect for each other. They are the definition of soulmates. And they are 2 of the kindest, most caring, creative people you will ever meet. And always happy. They are always smiling.

    Diamonds, feathers, teacups, and cupcakes. Flapper girls and classy women.

   Moonshine, cigars, suspenders, and bow ties. Prohibition men and trouble making boys.

   This is the world you are about to step in to and it’s nothing short of fabulous. It’s above and beyond what you ever envision on your wedding day, or any day. It’s a beautifully choreographed day of love put together by the two main stars of the night.

   This was such a magical day to be a part of, and let’s be honest, it’s 100% a photographer’s dream. This is the stuff magazines and Pinterest is made of! This is the wedding everyone wants and tries for but falls short because they don’t pay close enough attention to details or they are just not willing to put their all into everything they do.

   This was 8 hours of dress up, 8 hours of fun and games, 8 hours of stepping back in time and celebrating love, sass and class with laughing, crying, dancing, drinking, and beautiful stories being shared.

guy Senior Session with Fashion and Freighters

Senior guy session in the woods, on the lake, and with his high school sweetheart.

Abandoned houses, historic railroad ties, and young love.
 

   When I first met Adam he told me a LONG list of things he wanted to include in his session- one of them being Owen Wilson.
   As reality goes, I couldn’t get Mr. Wilson but I did get some other awesome stuff we talked about- Freighters, his car, his beautiful girlfriend, water and the country.
   I’m pretty sure every spot we took Adam to he had never been to before, which makes me happy. It keeps things fresh for me, and makes the whole thing an adventure for him.
   Check out the adventure we went on- from an old abandoned farm house, to cliffs out in the country, to freighters on the St. Clair River, and ending on a walkway built out of historic railroad ties. All the things he wanted, secretly wrapped up into a few hours and various awesome portraits.

Unique and Edgy Senior shoot with Young Teen Artist

Graffiti, paint, and overpasses.
Thunderstorm, open field, and Lake Huron.

A Senior photoshoot with a High School Artist.

   As a teenager I used Art as a way to express myself. A little bit of me was in the graphite portraits I did, the watercolors I attempted, and the poems I released.
   Art is still a way for me to express myself and a lot of the time ithelps me in ways I’m too closed off to understand at the time. It’s usually not until AFTER I finish a piece that I realize what I was feeling and how I was longing to get it out. Funny how your subconscious mind can do that for you.
   I feel like Logan and I connect in that way. She didn’t have many requests for her Senior Session, just that she wanted an image of her with pants on her hands in front of her face. And graffiti. Mom had a few other ideas that we tied in to everything as well.
   The second portion of our shoot we went to an underpass where some young kids go to dabble with spray paint and cause a little bit of trouble. I watch as Logan unfolded in to this super model I had no idea was hiding inside of her.
   By the time we got to our last outfit in the studio I was throwing paint at her body with a brush and splattering her face ever so carefully. This is where I saw he personality explode. She was in her element. We both were. And that’s when magic happens. Take a Look-

Gorgeous, Fun, Free, Dramatic Senior Session shot in Lexington, Michigan

   Photographing Mackenzie’s Senior Portraits was more like going on a fun road trip then “working.” 
  We started at the studio and took a few beautiful shots outdoors, under the willow, in the fern garden… we kept it very natural.
   Next we drove down the road for about a minute and stopped at a street corner. Nothing fancy- just a beautiful girl playing in the flowers, laying in the field. Simplistic and gorgeous.
   We carried on North to Lexington, Michigan where we stopped at a little coffee house and crabbed a couple of drinks while Mom did a little extra shopping, walking away with tasty wine and fresh local bread. We took a few shots in and around there and then scooted up the coast to a hidden, extremely rugged spot on the lake.
   We crawled and splashed around a crumbling boat dock as the sun set. It was literally, no pun intended, picture perfect. Check it out for yourself and go on this beautiful road trip with us!
