Burn- week 10 with ajbc photography

Week 10 of this 52 week project.
This week I decided to experiment with the basics of what photography really is- light. And that's really ALL that photography is, simply playing and painting with light.

We have a large pond on our property, which is pretty awesome, it makes for great summer sessions, but it's also an endless amount of upkeep. Especially when that upkeep is paying lots of money to kill what is basically pond weeds that will over take your entire yard if you don't get them under control. On top of that, after killing them, they need to be removed because they are then just large, dry, ugly sticks in your pond.
Our solution. Burn the suckers down. With a large torch. Like the true country folk we are becomin' (clearly.) haha

At first, my goal was to just document what we were doing. But as we got going I started playing with white balance, focus, ISO, and came out with a true piece of art. Really- I feel like it looks like an art piece, or a painting, more than a photograph.

And once you find that inspiration in something every day, you start to see things in a whole new "light." Colors, Textures....

And amazing shapes. Mother Nature is an incredible force to try to beat. And I mean that in more ways than one. Positive and Negative.

2014 recap- ajbc photography (port huron, michigan portrait photographer)

2014 was an amazing, wonderful, down right spectacular year for AJBC Photography. You know why?
Because of all the beautiful 75 faces you see here (I'm missing a few for the ladies who wanted to stay private.)
Beauty, Boudoir, Families, Kids, Seniors, Weddings, Destination Weddings, Animals, Fitness, Commercial, Events, Products. All in 1 year. All because these amazing people believed in what I could create for them, what we could create together.
It blows my mind seeing everything and everyone together in 1 box. My (almost) whole year in recap. From the first tiny square to the last, ever experience, every session, every client, every new friend I made, every moment we captured, it has changed me, it has shaped me, it's now a documented piece of history. I can not wait for 2015 and I can't thank you all enough for filling each and every square here.

The Seekers Of Shelter- week 6 with ajbc photography (port huron, michigan photographer)

This week was the first week I had to branch out of the studio without my assistant for this 52 week project and see what happened.
There was a time when all I had was my creativity. No props. No studio. No extra fluff. No real ways of knowing how to properly edit and da hubs.... always da hubs, next to me.
So I decided this week, let's drop the tricks, all of them. Let's go back to doing what I know best- taking a scene and running with it.
I extra like this because as of late Jake and I have been doing a pretty good job of getting out and doing things we normally wouldn't do, but what we built our relationship off of in the first place. Hiking, walking around town, photographing just for us, filming just for us, and simply enjoying the simple things in life.
I give you:
The Seekers Of Shelter

We actually started a company (The Seekers Of) based on those beliefs- getting outside, creating beautiful things, and helping others build their small dreams in to big realities with the help of artistic visual media and... and little.... seeking.

Christmas Minis 2014 by AJBC Photography (Port Huron Michigan Photographer)

We survived Christmas!! We survived the holiday season!!
We even captured some sweet moments at the end of 2014 in the middle of all the chaos.
All these amazing people were photographed in the same day in the same spot! I offered 3 different looks this year for Christmas and I loved it- the rustic at home for the holidays look, the clean crisp white backdrop, and the vibrant outdoors. As you can tell they all ROCKED every space, every look. I am so lucky to have so many amazing clients in my life and to have such an amazing space to host events like this in. Our new home and the new studio space / 20 acres of yard is an unbelievable breath of fresh air! We sure did end on a really, really, REALLY good note this year. See for yourself-
